“LT” was the man. This dude literally put fear in opposing quarterbacks with his strength, speed and pure will. He was a beast. Yet his success on the field never translated to success off the field in his personal life. Taylor, 51, was arrested Thursday May 6 with third-degree rape and soliciting a prostitute. The key here is that the prostitute was a minor. Now if you know Lawrence Taylor, you know that crack was involved. So you have crack, possibly some alcohol…no, alcohol was there too and a 16 year old prostitute – trouble.
So, LT says that he didn’t know she was underage. Another prostitute vouched for LT saying that she wasn’t underage…who knows what the hell really happened? Maybe the police know what went down. Here is the thing. LT has totally fallen from grace. Super Bowl Champion, all pro, 1986 league MVP…Millions…now all LT has are problems. Drug issues, money issues and he does little things to make money that you’d never expect to see an athlete do, i.e. wrestle for WWE.
I am not condemning the man, but as an athlete, you gotta be smarter. You have got to set yourself up for life after sports. But cats like LT – trust that he is not the only one – get high, have sex with just about anyone who will give it up and spend their money up, while providing for a family. They think the millions can stretch forever, and it can’t. Once the millions start to fade, the vices don’t leave and the yearnings for them get stronger. Next is the downward spiral. LT has hit the spiral. Now he faces jail time.
